August 17, 2010, Erie County in the Running for a $25,000 Grant.

Erie County is a finalist in a nationwide contest to put police radio’s in the hands of neighborhood watch group leaders. In a quest for a safer community, through District Attorney Jack Daneri’s office, Erie County has applied for a grant to purchase police radios for neighborhood watch captains to have direct communication with police departments and officers. Criminal justice scholarships will also be offered to students willing to post crime information on "ErieAlerts.com", a website created by Erie County Chief Detective Larry Dombrowski, to assist neighborhood watch groups in informing residents in Erie County of safety-related events and more.

Through technology and with the support of residents and volunteers we can all assist in making Erie County a safer community. Voting is easy, please log on to www.markhammarkofdistinction.com and vote for ERIEALERT.COM. You can vote once per day through September 7, 2010.
